Spending a day showcasing out communities! Minister Danielle Larivee was busy meeting a few of our amazing groups.
My family and I had a wonderful Sunday afternoon at the annual seniors harvest festival. The Athabasca Lions is such a great, hard working community group. Thank you for all that you do.
On October 27th I was delighted to attend the Athabasca Rotary Club Celebrity Dinner featuring local boy done good Jay Onrait. Due to the generosity of both auction donors and bidders the club was able to raise $81,000 in a single evening. Kudos to auctioneers Pete and Wayne Kowalchuk for a fine job getting bids up. Net proceeds will go to the new Athabasca regional swimming pool
Not only did the event raise a lot of money, but people had a lot of fun doing so. Jay’s account of how he went from a small northern town to becoming an internationally recognized sportscaster was very engaging. Finally, the dinner, courtesy of local Elsa’s Catering, was fantastic .Thank you Athabasca Rotary for the wonderful evening and congratulations on a successful event

It was great to see the new daycare cooperative in Smoky Lake. The first of its kind in Alberta the co-op will provide affordable quality childcare to Smoky Lake region. Congratulations to Smoky Lake County, the Town of Smoky Lake, Aspen View School Board, and of course the Pumpkin Patch Board for an innovative and promising approach to Childcare that can be a model for other communities as well;
